   Third Grade

Grade Three

We investigate changes over time in our community…

We collect information about government in our local community…

We learn about the human body…

We investigate forces and motion by building and experimenting with K’nex…

We enjoy learning about rocks and soil by observing soil samples up close…

We discover life cycles of plants and animals…

In mathematics, we play games and use many manipulatives to learn multiplication, multi-digit addition and subtraction, geometry, measurement, Patterns, and Data Analysis.

We have a one hour writing workshop period each day, where we work through the writing process of collecting ideas, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing narrative and expository text.

We have a one hour reading workshop period each day, where we are taught reading strategies to help us with Comprehension, Accuracy, Fluency, and Extending Vocabulary.  We learn to talk, think, and write about our reading.

We enjoy attending Atrium with Sister Irenaeus three days and week where she takes us on a religious journey through the Old Testament, New Testament, and accounts of her life in faith.  We are a growing community of respectful, faithful and devout Christians.

Learning is a blast in the third grade!
